Influence of phosphorus concentration on the growth kinetics and stoichiometry of the microalga Scenedesmus obliquus

چکیده

The growth of the freshwater microalga Scenedesmus obliquus was studied at 30°C in a mineral culture medium with phosphorus concentrations of between 0 and 372 pro. The values for the specific growth rates, between So=0 #m and S,=298 pro, fitted a semistructured substrate-limitation model with #,,~ = 0.0466 h P.,,2 = 0.0256 h ~ and Ks = 0.2 ttm. The specific uptake rate of phosphorus reached a maximum value of qsm~ = 658'01 x 10 4 pmol P mgt biomass h ~. © 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd Ko,words: Scenedesrnus, growth, phosphorus, stoichiometry, substrate, limitation.

Waste utilization and biodiesel production by the green microalga Scenedesmus obliquus.

Scenedesmus obliquus was cultivated in three types of waste discharges to couple waste treatment with biodiesel production. The lipid pool accumulation was boosted to 1.0 g liter(-1) against 0.1 g liter(-1) for the control. The waste-grown S. obliquus showed an increase in the content of the saturated fatty acid pool, which is desirable for good-quality biodiesel.
